Download Orthographe et lexicographie (Littré, Robert, Larousse). Variantes graphiques. Mots latins et grecs. Mots étrangers (Publications du Centre d’Etude du Français Moderne et Contemporain, 3). in PDF Full Online by Gerard Lukken and published by Peeters Publishers. This book was released on 1994 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author of this book, Gerard Lukken, has always believed that liturgy is not something which is unchangeable or sacrosanct, something to be imposed 'from above'; rather he believes that it must gain shape and content from the situation in which believers find themselves. This involvement is reflected in the hundreds of publications which have flowed from his pen. Lukken's extensive writings offer not only an exciting reflection on the challenges (such as secularization and the decrease in church-going) confronting church and believers, but also on the problems they have faced in celebrating their faith in recent decades. Moreover, his work represents a model for methodological renewal. The key concepts in his theological approach and his evaluation are 'anthropology' and 'semiotics'. These two aspects have left their marks on the organisation of this book which is a selective compilation drawn from his earlier publications. This collection consists of nineteen studies which have lost nothing of their topicality and most of which are now being translated into English, French or German for the first time. By crossing the frontier of language in such a way the editors wish not only to honour a leading specialist in liturgy but also to contribute to academic research into liturgy throughout the world. Gerard Lukken (1933) studied at the Diocesan Seminary in Haaren (Noord-Brabant), the Pontificia Universita in Rome, and the Institut Superieur de Liturgie in Paris. He was professor of liturgy and sacramental theology (from 1967) and director of the Liturgical Institute (from 1992) at the Theological Faculty of Tilburg until his retirement in 1994.
Download Journalisten en heethoofden in PDF Full Online by Gerard Termorshuizen and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-10-01 with total page 863 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As soon as he passed the equator, every Dutch journalist became a hothead, violent in his reactions to the neglect of the Dutch East Indies colony, where the press was the only mouthpiece for public opinion. In the absence of freedom of the press, the militant, often emotional style of the Indies press, popularly dubbed 'tropical style', not infrequently gave rise to head-on collisions between newspapers and governors. Because they circulated in relatively small communities, there was a strong bond between these papers and their readers, with their unquenchable thirst for diversion and entertainment. Hence they are an invaluable source on the intimate history of the Europeans and on inter-ethnic relations in the colony, while the serial stories they featured formed the basis for Dutch Indies literature. This unique work, based on the actual newspapers themselves from 1744 to 1905 (about seventy in all), describes the history of the Indies press. It contains a wealth of information on colonial politics, society and culture.
Download The Modern Pilgrim in PDF Full Online by Paul Post and published by Peeters Publishers. This book was released on 1998 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the product of a relatively long history of pilgrimage research in a Dutch theological setting. It is intended as a report for an international audience on this long-running programme. Two lines are followed in the book. The first is the track of liturgical studies, in which an historical, European ethnological and anthropological approach has predominated. The second is a social science track, with specific content coming from psychology of religion. The combination of these two lines has been extremely fruitful. In addition to results of various surveys of contemporary pilgrimage practice and the expansion of research into ritual and cultural context in which modern pilgrims find themselves, special attention is also bestowed on historiographic issues involved in orienting pilgrimage research, and its theoretical and methodological aspects. The places of pilgrimage examined here are Wittem, Dokkum and Amsterdam in The Netherlands, Banneux in Belgium, Lourdes and La Salette in France, and Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The central question which informs the whole study is to what extent one can perhaps speak of a new type of pilgrim today, the "modern pilgrim".

Download The Generation of Meaning in Liturgical Songs in PDF Full Online by Willem Marie Speelman and published by Peeters Publishers. This book was released on 1995 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the meaning of liturgical songs. Everybody who sings liturgical songs knows what a liturgical song is and also what it eans. But when we start to talk about them, things become confused. We know too much and there are too many languages in which we can express what we think their meaning is. And what is worse, other people seem not to understand what we say and immediately reply that we may know a lot but not what they know. Then the discussion turns into a quarrel amongst people who know too much and connot communicate what they know. A wise person may enter into the quarrel and say that communication about liturgical songs can only succeed when we sing together. Then we will sing together, confused and angry, because we now also know that the other people may sing very well but do not understand what they are doing. This is what has been happening for decades in the Dutch churches. Perhaps we should be silent and start to look and listen very carefully to liturgical songs, while developing a language in which the songs themselves can speak, communicating what they have to say. The looking and listening will take much time and energy: there are no more easy answers. And the language will be so difficult that we are forced to be silent, waiting and hoping for a word to come. Willem Marie Speelman (1960) is a musicologist, theologian and semiotician. In the present work he develops a very strict scientific method which can help to understand how liturgical songs "work", that is, in what manner they generate meaning.
Download From Fast to Feast in PDF Full Online by Cas Wepener and published by Peeters Pub & Booksellers. This book was released on 2009 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, some years after the first democratic elections in South Africa as well as the final report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), it is clear that reconciliation is still needed on all terrains of South African society. More and more people are becoming aware of unchanneled emotions such as guilt, fury, revenge and grief which are still alive in South Africa and which come to fore in different ways. It seems as if reconciliation is a process that will in fact take years, if not generations. The task of the TRC has been completed, but the task of reconciliation on all levels in South African society and the debate surrounding it are far from complete. Very little research has been conducted to understand both the process and the kinds of reconciliation rituals that are needed. And this is exactly the aim of the research described in this book. The research described here aims at making a contribution towards the process of reconciliation in South Africa by specifically looking at one small but important element in that process, namely ritual. To this end several ritual probes were conducted, including an ethnographic probe describing research by means of participatory observation in local South African communities, as well as a cultural-anthropological, biblical, historical and descriptive probe. From these probes ritual qualities were distilled which can be used for the liturgical inculturation of rituals of reconciliation in South Africa.

Download Multiculturalisme ontleed in PDF Full Online by Marie-Claire Foblets and published by Leuven University Press. This book was released on 2006 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
